Delivering a Better Forecast for Payment Allocations with SAP Solutions

Zalando Payments GmbH, the payments arm of Zalando, needed a better way to forecast payment allocations and resolve open payment cases while staying compliant with strict German and EU banking regulations. Its previous process was split across multiple tools, which created data disruptions, limited flexibility, and made workforce planning for its service provider harder. SAP helped Zalando Payments bring the forecasting process fully in-house within its SAP landscape.

SAP implemented an end-to-end solution using SAP S/4HANA, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Datasphere, SAP Data Intelligence, SAP HANA Cloud, and SAP Analytics Cloud, with machine learning to generate the weekly forecast automatically. The result was a more robust, reliable, and easier-to-train model, full regulatory compliance, and a 100% SAP-based process. The solution went live in October 2023, processing 9 million data records per week and helping Zalando Payments improve forecast accuracy, reduce risk, and support zero-backlog payment operations.
