CMP Managing Risks and Protecting Workers Through Digitalization

Compañía Minera del Pacífico (CMP) needed a digital way to strengthen risk management, reduce process variability, and better protect workers, processes, and assets across its mining operations. To support this transformation, CMP turned to SAP and SAP Business Technology Platform, along with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition and SAP S/4HANA Asset Management.

SAP implemented a cloud-based platform that unified risk data, improved traceability, and automated incident monitoring and reporting. As a result, CMP reduced average incident closure time from 83 days to 52 days, increased incident closure to 89%, and achieved a 0.12 accident frequency index—well below the 1.1 industry average—earning recognition for operational excellence.
