Cipla: Two-Tier ERP for pharma with SAP and itelligence

Cipla, a major global pharmaceutical company, faced the urgent challenge of rapidly organizing and optimizing its European logistics operations. This need was critically accelerated when it lost a key logistics partner in the UK, requiring a new system to be in place within two weeks to secure customer supply. To address this, they worked with vendor SAP and implementation partner itelligence to deploy a Two-Tier ERP solution.

The solution implemented was SAP Business ByDesign, which streamlined data exchange with Cipla's parent company in India and its logistics partners via automated web services. This allowed Cipla to take over distribution in the UK within the critical two-week window and fully automate its European logistics processes across ten countries. The project was completed in just four months, and the new system contributed to Cipla Europe achieving a turnover of 20 million dollars in its first year of operation with the new solution.
