A SAP Case Study
AkzoNobel, the Amsterdam-based chemicals company, needed to standardize and centralize finance across 250 subsidiaries in 55 countries after years of growth through acquisition. Using SAP S/4HANA for Central Finance and SAP Master Data Governance, AkzoNobel aimed to improve data accuracy, real-time reporting, and harmonized global finance processes while reducing complexity for its regional teams.
SAP implemented a phased Central Finance program that first established a common data model, master data governance, and data replication before rolling out centralized processing. The result was stable replication of more than 25 million documents, 100 company codes live in Asia and the Americas, and plans for 225 company codes to go live; AkzoNobel also cut hundreds of profit and cost centers and improved intercompany reconciliations, with real-time BI reporting next on the roadmap.
