A SAP Case Study
Landesbetrieb Straßen, Brücken und Gewässer (LSBG) in Hamburg, responsible for managing critical infrastructure such as bridges, waterways, and flood protection, faced a fragmented and largely reactive maintenance process. The agency lacked central master data, had non-integrated workflows, and needed a scalable digital approach for handling complex public works operations. LSBG turned to SAP, using SAP S/4HANA Cloud, public edition and SAP Business Technology Platform to modernize its asset management and maintenance planning.
SAP implemented a fully integrated, digital process that connects on-site inspections, maintenance scheduling, work orders, invoicing, accounting, and controlling in one system, supported by tools like SAP Asset Manager and SAP Datasphere. As a result, LSBG gained a central object directory, standardized and more proactive asset management, and faster decision-making based on better data; the rollout is live for 700 users and supports 1,000+ projects and 10,000+ maintenance orders, while also reducing accounting overhead.
