Italian energy giant Enel faced a significant challenge in standardizing its financial processes and consolidating data from 19 different ERP systems spread across its complex, multi-national operations. This inefficient and fragmented landscape resulted in a slow 16-day closing process, redundant manual checks, and a lack of transparency for decision-makers. To address this, Enel partnered with vendor SAP to implement the SAP S/4HANA solution for central finance foundation.
SAP's solution enabled the real-time transfer of financial transactions into a single, consolidated system running on SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud. This implementation dramatically streamlined Enel's operations, reducing the financial closing process from 16 days down to just 5 working days. The project provided Enel with real-time data analysis, greater visibility, and a harmonized, high-quality dataset across all regions and departments.
