Rust-Oleum, a global coatings and paints manufacturer, needed to replace a slow, manual purchase-order-to-sales-order process that was creating delays, data-entry errors, poor rush-order handling, and higher operating costs. To address this challenge, Rust-Oleum worked with SAP, using SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP ECC to automate sales order processing.
SAP implemented an automated solution with GenAI and OCR to extract data from emailed POs, prioritize urgent orders, validate exceptions, and post orders into SAP ECC with real-time tracking and notifications. The result was a major efficiency gain: 85% more time-efficient than manual entry, a 32% reduction in order cycle time, a 25% increase in order accuracy, and about 90% PDF-to-JSON extraction accuracy, helping Rust-Oleum process 65,000 orders a year more quickly and accurately.
