Case Study: Anglo American achieves global ERP simplification and standardization with SAP

A SAP Case Study

Preview of the Anglo American Case Study

Anglo American - Customer Case Study

Anglo American, a global metals and mining company, faced a highly fragmented ERP landscape with more than 23 separate instances across different platforms, creating complexity, inconsistent processes, higher support costs, cyber risk, and difficulty scaling change across the business. To address this, Anglo American worked with SAP on its multi-year ERP consolidation programme, centered on SAP S/4HANA and the SAP Anglo Operating Platform (AOP), to standardize and harmonize systems and support finance transformation.

SAP implemented a single global SAP template across business units, including the largest and most complex Platinum unit, while also adding tools such as SAP Fiori, SAP Extended Warehouse Management, SAP BTP, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP VIM, and BlackLine. The result was a reduction from 23+ ERP instances to 2 global platforms, a 3X reduction in landscape complexity, and support for more than 10,000 users, while also lowering customization by more than 50% in the Platinum rollout and improving agility, reporting, security, and user experience.
