Whirlpool Corporation Enhancing the Employee Experience to Deliver on the Customer Promise

Whirlpool, a global appliance manufacturer, faced fragmented, heavily customized legacy HR technology that delivered an inconsistent employee experience and left managers and employees without basic data and insights. To attract and retain talent and enable data-driven workforce planning, Whirlpool selected SAP SuccessFactors human experience management solutions (implemented with Deloitte LLP), including Employee Central, Recruiting, Onboarding, Learning, Performance & Goals, Succession & Development, Compensation, and Workforce Analytics.

Using SAP SuccessFactors, Whirlpool deployed a global, standards-based HR design (localized only for legal requirements) to 77,000 employees across 52 countries, implementing 130 standard global processes and shared services. The implementation delivered global talent insights for headcount, diversity, attrition, costs and high performers, freed HR partners and centers of excellence to create 80–85% more capacity, achieved >20% reduction in U.S. HR operating costs in year one, and secured 84% of people leaders as champions of the new model.
