VR Group, Finland’s state-owned rail operator, needed to modernize legal and safety eligibility management for 4,500 operative employees and replace multiple on‑premise HR systems to reduce administrative burden and improve the employee and manager experience. To do this it selected SAP SuccessFactors—deploying the SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite with Employee Central and the SAP SuccessFactors Mobile app—as the cloud platform to centralize training, medical checks, certifications and HR master data.

Using SAP SuccessFactors as the core HR system (integrated with Gavdi’s Easy Documents via SAP Cloud Platform), VR Group automated eligibility certificates and renewal alerts, enabled 24x7 mobile access, and removed the need for dedicated HR IT resources. The SAP SuccessFactors implementation delivered faster, automated eligibility management, universal mobile adoption, a 40% decrease in the cost of eligibility management, and improved compliance and manager visibility—helping VR Group uphold EU rail safety standards.
