Supporting Employees with the Right Tools for Working Remotely

Ecopetrol, Colombia’s largest petroleum company with about 14,000 employees, needed to accelerate the digital transformation of its HR processes to enable efficient remote work during the COVID‑19 pandemic, standardize customized internal workflows, and integrate HR data for better employee analysis. To meet these challenges, Ecopetrol engaged SAP SuccessFactors, deploying SAP Signature Management by DocuSign alongside the SAP SuccessFactors suite (Employee Central, Onboarding, Recruiting, Learning, Compensation, Workforce Analytics, etc.).

SAP SuccessFactors digitized and automated Ecopetrol’s HR processes and remote signing workflows, allowing more than 4,000 documents and contracts to be sent and signed remotely and achieving 80–90% adoption among target employees for contract extensions. The implementation delivered measurable impact: about US$2 million saved from increased productivity, a 35% reduction in recruitment time and a 43% reduction in onboarding time, fewer payroll errors, and accelerated, expanded use of SAP SuccessFactors across the organization.
