Leveraging the Internet of Things to Enable New Business Models

MOSCA, a global leader in strapping machines, wanted to turn machine data into new customer services and business models — from predictive maintenance to pay‑per‑use offerings — by integrating near‑real‑time analytics into its core processes. To do this it adopted SAP solutions, including SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Internet of Things and SAP S/4HANA, and partnered with IBsolution to pilot IoT‑driven services that help customers optimize production lines and increase throughput.

Working with IBsolution and leveraging SAP SuccessFactors alongside the SAP Internet of Things and SAP S/4HANA platform, MOSCA connected managed edge devices to a central IoT/ERP solution and launched a customer portal for machine performance insights. The implementation united 26 group companies on one platform, logged and analyzed millions of machine events in near‑real‑time, engaged three large pilot customers, and enabled 100% availability through analytics — laying the groundwork for new offerings such as consumption‑based billing and “strapping‑as‑a‑service.”
