Umicore, a materials-technology company that recovers and recycles precious and rare metals, needed to scale rapidly—planning to hire more than 1,000 people over two years—while dealing with fragmented, local HR systems that limited its ability to attract, train, and retain talent and to measure HR performance. To standardize and support global growth, Umicore selected SAP SuccessFactors and implemented SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals, Succession & Development, Learning, and Recruiting solutions, integrated with its SAP ERP HCM.

SAP SuccessFactors delivered an all‑cloud, integrated HR suite to streamline global processes, improve recruiting accuracy (including monitoring gender balance), and increase employee development and engagement. Using SAP SuccessFactors, Umicore created 630 open positions in about one year, received over 10,000 applications, hired 500 candidates, and realized greater HR efficiency, improved retention, and the ability to drive ongoing process improvement with HR cost metrics.
