Digitalization Enabling alfanar’s Journey to Excellence

Alfanar, a Riyadh‑based engineering, construction and electrical manufacturing group with ~25,000 employees, faced expiring warranties on its on‑premise SAP ERP, a tangle of legacy custom apps and integrations without Single Sign‑On, and gaps in GDPR compliance. To modernize and secure its SAP landscape, Alfanar engaged SAP SuccessFactors (as part of a broader RISE with SAP initiative), aiming to move ERP to the cloud and provide unified, remote access for users.

SAP SuccessFactors and SAP teams performed a lift‑and‑shift to RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition, deployed SAP Business Technology Platform and implemented SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone to enable SSO and mobile access to over 150 SAP and third‑party apps without VPN. The migration finished in about three months with only 42 hours of cutover downtime and delivered measurable gains: 30% reduction in downtime, ~66% reduction in ERP IT resources (from six admins to two), ~50% improvement in system performance, ~52K workflows processed monthly and 50–60K requests/approvals handled, plus GDPR compliance through EU data residency.
