Building a Futuristic, Cognitive Urban Area That Reimagines Urban Life

NEOM, the Saudi Arabia–backed megaproject building cognitive, zero‑carbon cities, needed to replace manual, paper‑based finance, procurement, and HR processes as it scaled to manage thousands of suppliers and spin off new companies. To create a single, real‑time system of record and speed onboarding, payments, and procurement, NEOM implemented SAP S/4HANA and a suite of cloud solutions from SAP, including SAP SuccessFactors for HR.

Using SAP SuccessFactors alongside SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba, SAP Concur and SAP Analytics Cloud, NEOM automated end‑to‑end procurement and the employee lifecycle, enabled mobile approvals and chatbots, and centralized trusted data for reporting. The rollout cut supplier‑registration time by about 80%, boosted procurement/operational effectiveness roughly 70%, reduced expense reimbursements from three–four months to 1–5 days, integrated ~3,000 of 8,000 suppliers, and put 100% of employees on a procurement chatbot—delivering faster invoicing, real‑time analytics, and higher employee engagement.
