BKW, a Bern-based energy and infrastructure company transitioning from a traditional utility to a broader services provider, faced a 16‑year‑old, heavily customized SAP ERP that had become resource‑hungry and cluttered with millions of outdated master‑data records. Finance and management needed reliable, consistent data, faster reporting and automation to handle cost pressure, reorganizations and support expansion into new service lines.

BKW implemented a greenfield SAP S/4HANA® rollout with an SAP Fiori® user experience for occasional users, simplifying processes and centralizing finance. The project delivered faster, easier data extraction and reporting, one controlling area (replacing 60), removal of 300 cost centers and 10,000 account‑assignment elements, immediate long invoice documents and a strong platform for future growth.
