Costain Group plc, a UK engineering and infrastructure consultancy, was asked to help transportation authorities consolidate fragmented, siloed project data and improve transparency and analytics across a £600 billion capital investment portfolio so teams could make faster, data-driven decisions and reduce costs and emissions.

Working with Keytree (a Deloitte business) and SAP, Costain built the Intelligent Infrastructure Control Center on SAP Business Technology Platform—using SAP HANA Cloud, smart data integration, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Data Intelligence and SAP Integration Suite—to virtualize and analyze data from multiple sources. The IICC now makes 80% of data accessible (up from 30%), delivers predictive analytics and live dashboards, increased machine efficiency by 30%, cut IT infrastructure costs by 66%, and helped lower emissions while improving security and project outcomes.
