Team Liquid, a world‑renowned esports organization founded in 2000, needed a scalable way to scout talent for its League of Legends roster. With roughly 65,000 promising players worldwide and millions of solo‑queue and training matches, legacy scouting—relying on personal contacts and recommendations—was slow, unreliable, and unable to process the high volume of match data.

Using SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP HANA Cloud (data lake, embedded data science and ML), Team Liquid built an intelligent data app that automatically ingests and analyzes match data—about 2 TB and 15 million training matches—to filter official and amateur games in real time. The solution accelerated talent discovery, enabled early testing and adoption of new tactics, and streamlined recruitment to give the team a measurable competitive edge.
