Taking a Two-Step Approach to Transition Legacy ERP to Next-Generation ERP in the Cloud

Coway Co. Ltd., a Seoul-based maker of water and air purifiers, bidets and mattresses with operations across Asia, Europe and the US, faced an aging, highly customized legacy ERP that was slowing its digitalization efforts. Coway adopted a two‑step, cloud‑first approach—first moving its legacy ERP to a private cloud by converting to SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA, then preparing for RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition—with support from Cloud Success Services and SBT Global. The migration completed 80 TB of data in 18 hours with near‑zero downtime, stabilized the new system within two weeks, and delivered major performance gains (6.88× faster batch jobs, >2× peak response improvement and an average 27.2× boost for optimized programs), reducing go‑live issues and freeing employees to focus on core work.
