Staying Dry with Help from SAP Solutions

The Gobierno de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (Ministry of Environment and Public Space) provides services to about 6 million citizens and manages more than 700,000 assets. Facing annual torrential rains, aging infrastructure and clogged storm drains, the city needed to predict and prevent flooding, speed responses to service requests, and improve contractor and asset management.

By deploying SAP HANA for real-time sensor and weather-data analytics, SAP Mobile Platform for inspectors and maintenance, and SAP CRM/ERP with Process Integration to streamline permits, suppliers and contractors, the city enabled rapid monitoring and response. The initiative kept 30,000 storm drains clear, boosted response rates to 80% (versus 1% in 2009), resolved more than 280,000 complaints annually, investigated ~190,000 claims, and recorded zero flooding after three days of torrential rain.
