Case Study: Fibria Celulose achieves optimized pulp production and rapid ROI with SAP HANA

A SAP HANA Case Study

Preview of the Fibria Celulose Case Study

Renewing Forests and Improving Pulp Production Using SAP Predictive Analytics

Fibria Celulose, the world’s leading producer of bleached eucalyptus pulp based in Brazil, faced the challenge of turning 14 years of disparate operational and forestry data into actionable insight after a major merger and IT consolidation. The company needed to support its sustainability and business strategy by enabling Big Data–driven projects to boost plantation productivity, optimize mill processes, and improve decision making across technology and industrial teams.

Working with Ernst & Young, Fibria deployed SAP BusinessObjects Predictive Analytics on the SAP HANA platform to prioritize analytics projects and analyze more than 1.6 billion records and hundreds of variables. The initiative uncovered key drivers of clone performance and optimal digester settings, delivered faster, more accurate operational decisions, reduced costs and increased productivity, and achieved ROI in under one year — paving the way to expand predictive analytics across the business.
