A SAP HANA Case Study

Preview of the Diakonie Michaelshoven Case Study

Real-Time Management and Cost Reduction with SAP S/4HANA

Diakonie Michaelshoven is a Cologne‑based social services organization of about 2,000 employees that supports people with disabilities, seniors, families, refugees, and more. Facing a highly heterogeneous IT landscape (including five different finance systems), slow overnight reporting, and rising administrative costs, the organization needed to standardize processes, speed up administration, and free up resources to reinvest in frontline services.

The charity implemented a greenfield SAP S/4HANA solution with SAP BusinessObjects Planning and Consolidation, Real Estate Management, Lumira, and the SAP Fiori UX, with Rubiccon as implementation partner and akquinet as host. The in‑memory HANA platform delivers ~15 ms response times and real‑time reports, enabling much faster invoicing, lower administrative costs, greater transparency, reallocated staff, increased liquidity, and reinvestment of savings into new apartments, assisted‑living capacity, and refugee support.
