A SAP HANA Case Study
BSH Hausgeräte, a Munich‑based maker of household appliances with 80 subsidiaries and 42 factories in 50 countries, faced a rapidly growing and complex SAP landscape—more than 180 systems and 500 instances—making it hard to see dependencies, manage databases, and maintain operations without specialized experts. The company needed to standardize and simplify global SAP operations, increase transparency for audit and compliance, and support a migration to the SAP HANA platform while containing costs.
BSH implemented SAP Landscape Virtualization Management and adopted SAP HANA as its standard database, creating a central Global Infrastructure Operations team to run and monitor the landscape. The result: full visibility of systems and dependencies, logged and auditable process steps, simplified and partly automated operations that reduce the need for specialist knowledge, faster instance relocations with only minutes of downtime, improved disaster-recovery readiness, and freed experts to focus on strategic work.
