A SAP HANA Case Study
Brigada Carcará is a 25‑person non‑profit based in Brumadinho, Brazil, that prevents and controls forest fires while protecting local communities, flora and fauna. With wildfire frequency rising, the brigade relied on paper maps and manual offline records, which caused data loss, slow response times and poor transparency—hindering prevention, coordination and post‑incident analysis.
Partnering with SAP, LPJ Group and Pif Paf Alimentos, they built a mobile app on SAP BTP using SAP HANA Spatial, object storage and analytics to deliver georeferenced maps, offline GPS tracking, real‑time incident logging, images and burned‑area metrics. Live since July 2021, the solution cut reporting from three days to about a minute, improved response agility, enabled bee rescues and structured reforestation planning, and increased protection for roughly 41,000 residents while modernizing brigade operations.
