How Has a Real-Time Monitoring System Aided Decision-Making and Saving Lives in a Pandemic

Morocco’s Ministry of Health, facing siloed data, manual reporting, and weak drug-stock control at the start of COVID‑19, needed a fast, reliable way to monitor the pandemic and support decision-making for clinicians and leaders. Working with ALGO Consulting Group, the Ministry sought a single source of truth and a user-friendly system to track KPIs (cases, recoveries, deaths, test capacity, medicine stocks) across the country for around 400 users.

Using SAP HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP Digital Boardroom on a Microsoft Azure customer-dedicated cloud, the team delivered a real-time monitoring platform (data refreshed every 10 minutes) with role-specific dashboards accessible on desktop and mobile. The solution enabled the minister to act within 30 minutes, trained 400 users in four hours, increased testing capacity from 100 to 10,000 tests per day (100x), sped up data delivery 4x, and improved targeted allocation of medicines—creating faster, fact-based decisions that helped save lives.
