Deloitte Belgium, an SAP-focused consulting practice, partnered with VF Corporation to address an unsustainable global trade classification process. VF needed accurate Harmonized System (HS/HTS) classifications for a portfolio of more than 3 million products across six regions, plus over a million seasonal updates each year, while facing scarce expert capacity, slow manual workflows, compliance risk and long lead times to market.

Deloitte built TradeClassifier — a cloud accelerator on SAP Business Technology Platform with an AWS ML component — fully integrated with SAP Master Data Governance and SAP GTS. The solution automated classifications, enabled smart workflows, reclassification on product changes, audit trails and anomaly detection. Results: 3.1 million classifications in year one with just two FTEs (meeting a 24‑hour SLA), peak monthly volumes in the tens-to-hundreds of thousands, shorter lead times and a proactive, highly auditable process delivered as a managed SaaS.
