A SAP HANA Case Study
Advanced Micro-Fabrication Equipment Inc. (AMEC), a Shanghai-based maker of semiconductor fabrication tools with about 600 R&D and operations staff, faced a complex, outsourced supply chain spanning 96 suppliers (70–80% overseas). Frequent R&D changes, lengthy processes and strict quality requirements created information silos that made real-time quality control, progress tracking and cross-enterprise coordination difficult and costly.
AMEC built a cloud-based, star-schema supply chain and implemented SAP HANA integrated with R in a three-stage rollout (quality management, order/instant messaging, logistics). The platform delivers sub-second responses for millions of data points, analytics 600× faster in tests, and automated quality checks that raised detection accuracy from 70% to 98%. Results include 98% of supplier products at Three‑Sigma quality, zero production delays from quality issues, over CNY 1 million annual savings in resident staff costs, and significant reductions in quality cost and overall cycle time.
