Callaway Golf accelerates production planning with SAP HANA on Lenovo

Callaway Golf, the world’s largest maker of golf clubs, was struggling to keep up with faster retail cycles and customer demand for customized, quick-turn orders. Key production-planning reports in its SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization environment routinely took more than 32 hours to run, leaving decision-makers with outdated information and limiting the company’s responsiveness.

Callaway migrated its SAP APO, ECC and BW systems to SAP HANA running on Lenovo servers, virtualized application servers on VMware with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and optimized data and queries. Within the first month the largest APO reports dropped from 32 hours to seven, the main SAP database shrank by about 50%, transaction and response times improved, and the company gained greater agility, resilience and cost savings.
