A SAP HANA Case Study
Nippon Paint China, a long-established paint manufacturer headquartered in Shanghai, faced a highly competitive, commoditized market and needed new ways to differentiate its brand and better anticipate customer demand. Although its iColor website already engaged customers, designers, and builders, the company lacked a unified way to connect structured SAP data with large volumes of web log and behavioral data to gain a 360-degree view of customers and trends.
To solve this, Nippon Paint built an integrated analytics platform that links SAP applications and SAP HANA with unstructured iColor data stored in Hadoop using SAP Data Services and smart data access. The solution delivers real-time dashboards and personalized recommendations that inform R&D, marketing, and designer partners—resulting in longer site visits and higher satisfaction, faster product-development cycles, better trend visibility for designers, increased targeted campaign effectiveness, and measurable lifts in engagement and revenue.
