Arpa Industriale Taking Industry 4.0 to New Heights with Next-Gen Supply Chain Processes and Factory Intelligence

Arpa Industriale, maker of premium FENIX® surface materials that account for over half its revenue, built a greenfield Industry 4.0 factory to address a costly, defect-prone production process: the ultra-thin, matte FENIX surface shows even tiny flaws, creating high scrap rates and heavy water, energy and resource use. The company needed to stabilize and optimize a complex, waste‑intensive line while meeting ambitious sustainability and quality targets.

Arpa connected more than 1,600 sensors and PLCs directly to an SAP-powered stack (SAP BTP, HANA, Analytics Cloud, Manufacturing Execution, MII, and EWM), using real-time dashboards, predictive analytics, machine learning and autonomous LGVs to capture employee best practices and embed them in machines and processes. The result: near-zero scrap (96% reduction), about 80% lower water/energy consumption, €750,000 saved in year one, >6× productivity versus traditional HPL plants, continuous 24×7 operations and a reproducible template for rolling the solution out company-wide.
