A SAP Fieldglass Case Study
Sanlam, a major South African financial services group with about 105,000 employees, set out to become Africa’s leading insurer by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. Its decentralized HR model and multiple disparate data sources produced inconsistent employee experiences, limited talent mobility, and slow, complex reporting—hindering efforts to build a diverse, future-ready workforce.
Sanlam moved to a shared-services HR model based on the SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite—centralizing Employee Central, SAP Analytics Cloud, Recruiting (LinkedIn), Learning (Skillsoft), a mobile HR app, and Qualtrics engagement—so it could unify data, improve reporting, and listen to employees. The change delivered measurable gains: 50% less manual effort for reviews, an 80% faster time to fill high-volume graduate roles, 88% of performance forms completed on time, stronger visibility for reskilling and diversity targets, and lower costs through unified management of permanent and contingent staff.
