MUFG Union Bank N.A. Builds Trust and Transparency with Its Contingent Workforce

MUFG Union Bank N.A., a U.S. retail and commercial bank with US$161 billion in assets and part of the world’s fifth-largest financial group, faced a growing contingent workforce challenge: stricter labor laws and limited visibility into freelancers and contractors made security, authentication, and validation difficult. The bank needed a clear management system to know who was working for them and where, and enlisted MBO Partners for guidance.

With MBO Partners’ help, MUFG deployed SAP Fieldglass Contingent Workforce Management to build a talent database of more than 2,500 referred contractors, add a freelance community link on its careers site, enable direct, real-time communication and job alerts, and source talent directly to reduce consulting costs. The solution improved candidate quality, shortened contractors’ learning curves, supported flexible and remote work, and gave the bank a transparent, real-time view of its contingent workforce and assignments.
