A SAP Fieldglass Case Study
Koninklijke Philips N.V., a global healthcare technology company, faced the need for flexible, cost‑effective access to specialized skills and better visibility across its internal and external workforce to support product development and rapid scaling. Philips wanted to adopt zero‑based workforce planning to decide whether work should be done by employees, contingent workers, or service providers, but lacked the systems and supplier management needed to make those choices quickly and transparently.
Working with Randstad Sourceright, Philips deployed SAP Fieldglass Vendor Management System solutions (including Contingent Workforce Management, Services Procurement, and SOW tracking), integrated with external recruitment channels to manage about €500 million in contingent spend and 97% of contingent workers across 25 countries. The program delivered faster decision‑making and cycle times, cost savings through optimal resourcing, more effective recruitment of specialist skills, improved tracking of remote contingent workers during COVID‑19, and ongoing expansion to better manage service providers and SOWs.
