Siemens Gamesa Supporting a Newly Merged Company with a Single Digital Platform

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, formed by the merger of Siemens AG and Gamesa, is a global leader in wind turbines and services with roughly 26,000 employees and a 107 GW install base. After the merger the company faced tight legal and timing constraints to separate from legacy systems, consolidate 11 disparate ERPs, and gain unified visibility and standardized processes across its international operations—challenges made harder by remote working during the COVID‑19 pandemic.

Siemens Gamesa implemented a greenfield SAP S/4HANA platform hosted on Microsoft Azure, integrating SAP Ariba and SAP Field Service Management with implementation support from SAP Services and Infosys. The unified solution delivered faster, more automated processes (around 30% quicker), a simpler IT landscape (≈40% reduced complexity), standardized global reporting and field operations, and greater operational transparency to drive continuous improvement as the rollout expands to more countries.
