Quad/Graphics, a global print and multichannel solutions provider (~25,000 employees; $4.8B revenue in 2013), faced rapidly rising PO and invoice volumes driven by an aggressive acquisition strategy. The company needed to process more invoices with fewer resources, cut processing costs, improve on-time payments, and continue to leverage its existing procurement and accounts-payable systems.

Quad/Graphics extended its internal procurement and finance systems to the Ariba Network to automate POs and invoices, support blanket POs, and centralize procurement across categories. As a result, roughly 82% of global procurement invoices are now processed through the Ariba Network, invoice processing time dropped about 33%, reliance on paper/manual workflows declined, and a five-year productivity goal was achieved in under two years.
