A SAP Ariba Case Study
Trivalor SGPS SA, a top-ten Portuguese holding company whose procurement is run by Sogenave, faced growing complexity managing more than 15,000 items across ~30 categories and nine logistics centers. Invoices for office and IT purchases frequently arrived without purchase orders, creating heavy manual work, poor spend visibility and weak buyer accountability—prompting a need to digitalize and standardize indirect buying.
Trivalor implemented SAP Ariba Buying, the Strategic Sourcing Suite and Commerce Automation, integrated with its SAP ERP, to create groupwide catalogs of preferred products and suppliers, guided buying and clearer contract management. The change reduced catalog categories, increased traceability and buyer accountability, routed a significant share of indirect spend through Ariba (about €10M/year currently), and positioned the group to enforce a no-PO, no-pay policy to lower costs and improve margins.
