Groupe Auchan, the global retailer with 3,051 locations and 330,700 employees, faced fragmented indirect purchasing across dozens of business units and thousands of stores. With €4.5 billion in annual indirect spend and thousands of decentralized buyers, Auchan lacked standardized processes, controls, and supplier management, which limited cost efficiency and visibility.

Auchan rolled out SAP Ariba Sourcing, Supplier Information & Performance Management, and Buying & Invoicing across its business units and Ariba Network for suppliers, standardizing tools and processes for 12,000 users. The implementation achieved full user adoption, now manages €3 billion (about 66%) of indirect spend and 15,000 suppliers, driving better data quality, faster sourcing, and measurable savings through centralized procurement.
