AB SKF, a Göteborg-based leader in bearings and motion solutions with 108 manufacturing units in 29 countries, needed to maintain its global standard of excellence by harmonizing direct procurement across its worldwide operations. The company’s challenge was to standardize and simplify procurement processes, reduce administrative cost and complexity, and achieve 100% compliance with its procurement policy while sharing best practices across business units.

By deploying SAP Ariba (Network, Sourcing, Contracts, Buying, and Supplier Information and Performance Management), SKF digitalized and simplified its procure-to-order processes, centralized compliance monitoring, and rolled out global best practices. Results included 16,000 suppliers added to a master database, 100% of indirect spend processed with purchase orders in most categories, SEK 40 million of spend controlled, and improved transparency, traceability, efficiency, and cost savings.
