Bouygues Telecom, a major French telecommunications provider, needed to sharpen procurement as market competition increased after a new entrant in 2012. Tasked with part of a corporate target to save €300 million over three years, the company sought to standardize purchasing, improve supplier relationships and drive more strategic sourcing.

Bouygues Telecom implemented SAP Ariba Sourcing and Contracts, introduced reverse auctions and trained suppliers to participate—auctions can be set up and launched in about two weeks. The new approach delivered an 18% improvement in sourcing savings (approximately €15 million), faster, more transparent negotiations with higher conversion rates and a rapid ROI after just two to three auctions, with plans to further digitalize procurement.
