BC Hydro Saving More Than $1 Million Per Year with SAP Ariba Solutions

BC Hydro, the Crown utility that supplies electricity to more than 4 million British Columbians, faced widespread invoice noncompliance and late supplier payments that strained supplier relationships. The company’s objective was to automate invoice processing, provide suppliers with a self-service portal for invoice and payment status, and make it easier to do business with BC Hydro.

BC Hydro deployed SAP Ariba solutions—Ariba Network for orders/acknowledgements and Ariba Payables with discount management—fully integrated with its SAP landscape to automate PO and invoice processing and offer early-payment options. As a result, about 80% of invoices are managed through Ariba, 93% of invoices are paid on time, accounts-payable costs fell by more than $1 million per year, invoice errors were reduced, and supplier visibility and relationships improved.
