Improving time to market for the largest Nordic sports retailer

XXL, the largest Nordic sports retailer with e-commerce and large unit stores across Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Austria, faced slow time to market and inability to auto-scale during traffic spikes because of a monolithic backend and integrated web app. To modernize their stack they integrated Sanity with their SAP Hybris commerce and PIM platform running on AWS, adopting Sanity’s structured content approach.

Using Sanity’s platform, XXL moved to modern web technologies, implemented code pipelines and automated testing, and enabled continuous delivery. The result: deployments to production multiple times per day, auto-scaling in 10 seconds, and development cycles shortened from 2–3 weeks to days—improving content production and developer satisfaction thanks to Sanity.
