TWR Simplifies Global IP-PBX Management with FreePBX

Trans World Radio (TWR), a global Christian mission media ministry operating in more than 160 countries, was struggling with high international calling costs and a hard-to-manage legacy phone environment. Its existing Cisco Call Manager system was costly to maintain, lacked trunking between sites, and was difficult for small, geographically dispersed IT teams to support across multiple time zones.

TWR implemented Sangoma’s FreePBX with Asterisk to centralize and simplify global IP-PBX management through a web-based GUI. The rollout enabled four-digit dialing across sites, easier delegation of phone system tasks, and significant cost savings: about $49,000 for 442 endpoints, roughly $100 per endpoint, and $3,000 to $6,000 in monthly savings on international toll calls.
