London Metropolitan University, one of the UK’s highest-ranked universities, needed a fast, flexible, and cost-conscious way to deploy 150 phones in an area where traditional voice cabling to its legacy Siemens iSDX system was unavailable. The university turned to Sangoma for a solution that could connect the new phones to the existing network without major rewiring or disruption.

Sangoma implemented a FreePBX 300 Phone System, a Vega 3050G gateway, and an A102D PRI card to bridge the legacy PBX, analog handsets, and SIP trunking. The result was a rapid deployment completed within budget, with reduced downtime, improved flexibility, lower calling and line rental costs, and added long-term benefits such as easier administration, local survivability, and support for services like faxing and conference calls.
