SITAONAIR, a leader in e-Aircraft communications for the air transport industry, faced the challenge of delivering consistent, high-quality Internet to passengers at 30,000 feet across dozens of airlines and thousands of daily flights. Using Sandvine’s Policy Traffic Switch (PTS), SITAONAIR enforces real-time policies that identify and prioritize sensitive applications, optimize limited bandwidth, and measure quality of experience and usage patterns to guide policy and service decisions. The deployment improved in-flight browsing and interactive services, helped airlines meet rising passenger expectations, and earned the 2016 Policy Control Award for Most Innovative Policy-Enabled Project.
