Paratus Telecom Gives Subscribers Their Flix

Paratus Telecom, a Namibian operator with regional points-of-presence in Johannesburg, Lisbon and London, needed a policy and charging control solution (PCRF) to enable new subscriber services on its newly launched LTE network and to out‑innovate competitors. The operator sought agility to quickly create and update service plans for both prepaid and postpaid customers and to prepare for voice‑over‑LTE.

Paratus deployed Sandvine’s Service Delivery Engine (SDE), whose tight integration of traffic classification, PCRF and PCEF enabled rapid service rollout. Using the SDE Paratus launched the “Flix” plan—5 GB for any use plus 100 GB dedicated to Netflix at N$485/month with a free Wi‑Fi wingle—delivering fast time‑to‑market, differentiated subscriber offers and readiness for future VoLTE services.
