GTT Invites Everybody to Connect

GTT, Guyana’s leading telecommunications provider since 1990 with over 280,000 subscribers, wanted to bridge the digital divide by giving more citizens basic Internet access—even those without active data plans. The challenge was to provide free, targeted access to essential educational and government sites while controlling traffic and keeping the offering flexible and easy to manage.

Using Sandvine’s traffic classification and policy enforcement, GTT launched Free Basic 4G Services to deliver no-cost access to 20+ local and international sites (e.g., Wikipedia, education portals, government and news sites) requiring only a data-capable device. The solution made it simple to add or modify sites, earned government support, and helped more Guyanese discover the value of connectivity and expand access to knowledge.
