Afrihost, a South African ISP founded in 2000, needed to manage and optimize Internet traffic for thousands of customers while maintaining high-quality experiences for real-time applications and offering new, differentiated services. The company faced the challenge of prioritizing traffic and delivering peak DSL speeds on demand without degrading overall network performance.

Afrihost deployed Sandvine’s Policy Traffic Switch (PTS) to identify traffic and enforce policies that prioritize real-time apps and remove shaping during Turbocharge sessions. Subscribers receive 300 free Turbocharge minutes per month (Uncapped plan users get five free Turbocharge sessions and can buy more), enabling up to 60 minutes of unshaped, peak DSL speeds per session and resulting in a noticeably better user experience and new service offerings.
