A SanDisk Case Study
TransUnion Interactive, the consumer-facing subsidiary of TransUnion, faced growing delays in its reporting environment as web traffic and data volumes increased — report generation on the storage-based system was taking 30–45 minutes, causing business users to get critical reports late in the day. IT leaders needed a cost-effective way to accelerate reporting and reduce the infrastructure footprint so decisions could be made earlier each morning.
TUI installed SanDisk-powered Fusion ioMemory ioDrive mezzanine cards into its blade servers and moved reporting databases off the SAN onto the cards, enabling the company to consolidate from multiple blades and disk shelves into a single blade with three ioDrive cards. The change was easy to implement, delivered 6–9x faster reporting (about 30–45 minutes down to ~5 minutes), cut hardware and space requirements, and produced a high ROI by offloading I/O from the SAN.
