A SanDisk Case Study
Nexenta, a Software-Defined Storage provider, faced growing customer demand to support diverse, performance-sensitive workloads—cloud and object storage, VDI, big-data analytics and backup—while reducing CapEx and OpEx. Enterprises needed freedom to choose hardware that balanced low latency, high IOPS, reliability and scalability for tier‑one applications, while keeping legacy/cold data cost-effective.
Nexenta partnered with SanDisk to deploy enterprise-class Optimus SAS SSDs in NexentaStor hybrid ZFS pools, using SSDs optimized for cache‑read and cache‑write to lower read/write latency and raise IOPS. The combined solution delivered tiered, predictable performance (with high DWPD endurance options and ARC2L hot-data placement), was deployed across ~100 systems globally, and produced measurable performance gains and reduced total cost of ownership, backed by rapid firmware customization and responsive support.
