A SanDisk Case Study
Modrus is a London-based provider of hosting, cloud and virtual IT solutions that uses Zenoss for proactive network monitoring. As their customer base grew, Zenoss began generating heavy disk I/O and servers were running near 100% capacity, threatening monitoring performance and requiring a solution that delivered higher throughput, scalability, reliability and reduced operational overhead.
Modrus installed a Fusion ioMemory ioDrive Duo 640GB and moved their RRD data onto it, eliminating the I/O bottleneck. The change restored performance, enabled a 3:1 server consolidation (from three 2U servers to one 1U), increased data-points processed per server by about 6x, recovered roughly 4 staff-hours per week, and delivered far higher performance density and reliability compared with SSD-based servers.
